Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for taking bribe Rs 9,000
Chandigarh May 17 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, nabbed a Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Baldev Raj (648/Khanna), posted at police station, Samrala, Khanna police district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 in two instalments.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said ASI Baldev Raj has been arrested on the complaint of Ram Singh, resident of village Bhall Majra, Fatehgarh Sahib district who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister's Anti Corruption Action Line in this regard.
Giving details he added that the said complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above said police official had already taken Rs 9,000 in two instalments as a bribe not to register any police case against his daughter and son in law. The complainant further alleged that the accused police personnel had conducted criminal proceedings against them even after taking bribe money. He recorded the conversation with ASI regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as an evidence.
The spokesperson informed that the VB range Ludhiana has investigated the complaint and the arrested the accused police official after finding him guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 9,000 from the complainant.
In this regard a case under section Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police personnel at VB police station Ludhiana range. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
